The two largest tributaries that flow into Pangong Lake, Maga Zangbo and Domaqu, are both located in the eastern section of the lake. The sources of freshwater are sufficient, the supply is greater than the evaporation, and the salinity of the lake is maintained within 0.75 g/L. so that the eastern section of the lake is a freshwater lake; while the freshwater supply in the middle and western sections has dropped sharply, and the narrowest part of the lake in the middle section is only 100-150 meters wide, and the lake water in the east-west direction is not smooth. Supplementing to the west makes the evaporation of the western lake larger than the replenishment and the salinity of the lake increases from the middle to the west to nearly 20 g/L, turning it into a saltwater lake.
